NEW YORK TRAVEL PHOTO DIARY

New York New York
The third trip to the Big Apple revolved around food, friends and re-visiting favourite places. And discovering the Flatiron building, by accident. That's why the best way to explore the city is by foot.

Top of The Rock
No trip to New York is complete without finding somewhere to take in the breathtaking views over the city. One World Trade Centre has a new observation deck. And the Empire State Building is a film favourite. But for me, The Top of the Rock is the one.

The High Line
A 1.45 mile long elevated garden on a disused railroad.
Need I say any more?

Brooklyn Bridge
Maybe it's just the Engineer in me. I love a good bridge. And crossing this one is a New York essential - the views of the city, the striking buildings and the Manhattan Bridge in the distance.  Needless to say, I took approximately 158,627 photos.

One World Trade Centre
The centrepiece of the rebuilt World Trade Centre complex. And the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. At the foot of the tower, the 9/11 Memorial's twin twin reflecting pools sit within the footprints of where the Twin Towers once stood. And across the street, Calatrava's ribbed oculus soars over the World Trade Centre transportation hub below.

Long Beach
The perfect day trip destination to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's even better when your friend's friend has a beach hut and barbecue. The best part? Standing on the top of the sand dunes, watching the sun set over the New York city skyline in the distance.
